             Flies, Halloween & Thanksgiving
Nov 2007

Halloween is over and Thanksgiving is fast approaching.  For Halloween Grandma packed up  boxes of stuff to send to our five Grandkids.  All kinds of cool stuff that kids love - neat shirts with skeletons on them that glow in the dark, special Halloween flashlights and of course candy.  The best part is when the phone rings and the kids have opened their boxes.  It's almost like Christmas they are so excited.

Did you know that consumers spend more money on Halloween than any other holiday during the year except Thanksgiving and Xmas?  There are more Halloween parties than any other occasion during the year except New Years.

We just finished the Pomona CA RV Show and did we ever have an unusual experience.  We were staying about 20 minutes away in Chino Hills in our rig at a beautiful regional park on a lake.  The only problem is there was a dairy farm with the accompanying odor right next to the property.  Flies were everywhere.  I told the ranger there were more flies than they had fish in the lake.  Since we weren't there much it didn't bother us.  On the final night we got home around 8:30 after tearing down the booth and came home to thousands of flies inside the rig.  The winds that day were terrible (California Fires) and they blew all the flies over from the farm.  They tried to get into shelter on the downwind side of the coach and found their way into our rig, through the slideouts we think, and apparently many others.  They were all over the floor, the walls, the ceiling, the counters, in the toilet, the coffee machine, the cupboards and somehow even in the fridge.  You couldn't walk without stepping on them.  We worked until 10:30 and finally decided that we were losing the battle.  Judy said, "They are bringing in new recruits.  Let's get out of here." So we packed up and moved down the road to Wal-Mart.  The wind was so bad that we only drove about 30 mph on the freeway.

We worked until 2:30 in the morning spraying and vacuuming trying to win the war.  We finally got enough of them out of the bedroom and went to bed.  Next morning we started all over again.  Finally, I went to Wal-Mart and got a bug bomb and set it off.  A few hours later the fight was over.  But the cleanup was just starting.  We had to vacuum and clean every surface in the rig.  Wash all the dishes that could have come into contact with them. What a job!  In the Wal-Mart parking lot it turned out there were two other rigs that had left the same park for the same reason.   One guy told me they left right away and didn't stay to fight them like we did, and when he was driving down the road, there were so many flies in the rig, he could hardly see.  It's an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone and don't want to repeat.  Just call me the "Fly Catcher."

We would like to thank you for the support you have given us and our three great road teams this year.  As a way of saying "Thank You" we are offering a 10% discount to our Newsletter subscribers on anything you choose to purchase in the month of November.  We thought this would work better than putting some products on sale.  You might already have those products or don't need them in your rig.  This will also be helpful for your Xmas Shopping for RVing friends and family.  When you get to the checkout just type the Discount Code in where it is asked for and you will receive your discount.  There is only one coupon available per customer so make sure you do all the shopping you want to.  The Discount Code is c3a814c1ca.  Send this newsletter on to your RVing friends and they can subscribe to the newsletter and receive not only the benefits of the ideas in the newsletter but also the specials we offer to our subscribers.  You will notice that this sale is NOT on the Internet.

Thanksgiving is around the corner and many of you will be traveling down the road to spend time with family and friends.  We are heading up to Lake Havasu to spend Thanksgiving with a bunch of vendor friends.  Judy and I wish you safe travel. Let's be thankful for all the blessings that have been bestowed on all of us this year.  Just think about those folks in the California fires and how much they have lost.  We have much to be thankful for.

12 Volt RV Security Smart Light
Puts light where you want it, when you need it!

Every now and then we come across a product that has a "WOW" factor.  This is definitely one of those. This light replaces the existing light at the front door of your rig and turns it into a motion detecting security light that comes on when you or someone approaches the RV.  I put one on our rig and from the first moment, we just loved it.  How many times have you come home and it's been dark outside and you can't see to put the key in the lock?  You're not sure where the step is or if there are things outside that you might trip over.  Perhaps you have had to park in an area where safety and security is an issue.  This light automatically lights up when someone approaches the rig.  It also comes on automatically when you open the door to step out.
Star Light

The unit throws about double the light of traditional front door light and can be painted to match your rig if you so desire.  The other thing I love about it is that the light is tilted downwards, so you get the light when you need it, where you need it.  This is a product the RV Industry has needed for years and it's finally available.  You will love it when you come home and the front entry lights up.  It's a perfect fit for our Coil n' Wrap line of great products that make your life safer, easier and safer as you travel down the road.

Installation is quick and simple.  Just remove the old light, attach the wires, apply caulking and screw it to the rig (often into the existing holes) and turn it on.  It operates like a normal porch light until you turn the switch on and off.  Then it becomes a motion detector light that is not affected by blowing trees and animals.   It has a daylight sensor so it will not activate during daylight hours.  The Star Monitor feature is a battery sensor that will warn you of low battery voltage and the need to charge your batteries.

This
RV Security Smart Light will make a great gift for RVing family members.  It is truly fantastic.  Because there never was an alternative in the past, I got frustrated when I came home in the dark and had forgot to turn the light on before I left.  I came across this light last year at a show where they were test marketing the concept.  For the last year I was frustrated many times and couldn't wait for this product to be ready for market.  Now you will be frustrated everytime you come home in the dark because you know there is a solution.  You will definitely want this on your rig.  Some people are going to put them on both sides of their coach to provide additional light and security for their rig.
*****WE GIVE IT A FIVE STAR RATING!*****
Water Pressure Regulators & Water Bandits
Over the years I have had to use pressure regulators to protect the hose and rig from high pressure.  The problem has been the restricted flow as well as reduced pressure.  The traditional pressure regulator reduces pressure to 40-45 psi which is what was required for older RV's.  The plumbing in years gone by was not designed to handle pressures higher than that.  Todays rigs can handle higher pressure.  I changed to a 50-55 pound psi regulator which not only increases the pressure but increases the water flow by 20%.  If you don't have 55 psi or greater at the campground it doesn't restrict any flow at all.  This is certainly a great product for later model RV's.

Many people mistakenly believe that if they don't open the tap all the way, they can control the pressure.  This is NOT correct.  Pressure is pressure and is not changed by the amount the tap is opened.  Only the flow rate of the water is changed.  The excess pressure will still build up and can do serious damage.  In order to reduce pressure you must have a pressure regulator.  That's why they make them.

Thieves & Bandits
We are constantly being asked if our one-piece Quick Hose & Faucet Connector will work on a faucet with no threads such as is often found in State Parks.  Some of our customers have used it and state that it does work.  Personally I cannot attest to that.    We have a solution to the problem that does work.  It was designed just for those faucets. The Water Bandit, also sometimes called a Water Thief, has a hose connector on one end so you can screw it to your hose.  The other end has a soft flexible rubber tube that will slip over the faucet, allowing you to connect to those State Park faucets.  Everyone should carry one of these because you just never know when you are going to need it.  There is nothing more frustrating than having access to water and not being able to use it.

Golf Cart Battery Filling Systems
Golf CartMany of you have golf carts that need to have their batteries filled.  This can be a painful and tedious process.  Our new system allows you to fill them all at the same time with an innovative pumping system.  These systems are different than the systems we show on the website for 6 and 12 volt batteries for RV's.  The principle is the same.  Please drop us an email with the following information.  Type of cart, type of battery and whether you are a 12, 24, 36 or 48 volt system.   You will never have to take off the battery caps again.  No more battery spills.  The batteries will be filled correctly each and every time.   It will increase the life of your battery dramatically.  They generally run around $170.
Sincerely,

Ken Wilton
