Two Quartzsite Tents Collapse!  Emergency Evacuation of Show
Feb 2008

January was certainly a hectic month.  We did the Indio FMCA show in California the first part of the month, followed by a wholesale show in New Orleans.  We were both pleasantly surprised and amazed at how much has been done and yet how little has been done since Katrina.  The 9th ward still has much to recover from as does the rest of the New Orleans area.   We returned to AZ to do the two Quartzsite shows.  I got a doozie of a cold and Judy had to run the booth for half the first Quartzsite Show without me.  Thank goodness we had some help.  The crowds seemed bigger than ever.  The booth was extremely busy.  At this show we see all kinds of people who make Quartzsite an annual pilgrimage.  They stop by to see us to see what's new.  We had very good shows in January overall.  Thanks to all of you that stopped by.  We can't thank you enough for patronizing our business.

Quartzsite WestThe Quartzsite Car & Craft Show however was quite a show.  On the last Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday, the winds were howling from the southwest.  There were three tents this year that comprised the BIG tent - the center tent where we were located and the east and west adjoining tents.  All told the tent area was probably longer than a football field.  Around 1:30 the announcement came over the sound system that due to the winds the show would have to close.  They asked everyone to vacate the tents immediately.  All the vendors started packing up.  Around 2 PM the west tent collapsed.  We hurried to get Quartzsite Eastdone and then witnessed the east tent going down.  I went back to take some pictures.  They were then evacuating the vendors from the main tent.  Vendors had to leave their product behind and get to safety.  They moved the RV's that were parked on the north side of the tent into the south parking lot.  We watched the big tent swaying in the wind and thought it would come down next.  Fortunately it didn't, but there was a lot of damage to the tent and apparently the huge poles were bent.   Luckily no one was hurt and we believe that most of the cars from the Car Show were out of the tents before they collapsed.  The wind blew all day and then really howled for about 3 hours.  It was very unfortunate that this happened.  Kudos to Kenny King the organizer of this Grand Event year after year.

Our teams have been busy in Yuma and Florida and Judy and I will be at Beaudry RV for the Western Roundup and at Pomona for the FMCA in late February.

February is our year end so we are going to do some inventory reduction on products that we are either overstocked on or are going to drop from the product line.  This will mean good savings to you.  So keep an eye on the website for a section called Specials & Clearance.  You can read below about the items that are on sale.

Amazing Wind Fence:
The Wind Fence is just that Amazing!  It annihilates the wind so you can enjoy your time outside.  It is 5' high and 10' long and can easily be setup in about 5 minutes.  A lot of people have 2 of them to protect a larger area or to put one up for when the wind comes from one direction and the second one to protect you when the wind direction changes.  I use 2 of them, one at the front and one at the back of the RV.  With another rig parked beside me this provides the utmost in wind protection.  For those of you who go out to the sand dunes, the fence also protects from blowing sand.  This item is going to be discontinued so make sure you get your while they last.  Regularly priced at $129.99 the Wind Fence will be cleared out at $64.99.  You can now buy 2 of them for the price of 1.  Get together with some friends and get extras so you can protect an even larger area from the elements.

Wind Fence Material:
The material that makes up the wind fence is very very strong.  One of our customers is using it as a cover for his dump truck and reports that it is the best material he has ever used.  He is in construction and regular truck covers required to stop stuff from blowing out of the truck, just wasn't up to the challenge and continually had to be replaced.  He has had this on his truck now for 4 years and it's still like new.

Some people need the material to create their own wind protection on a patio, deck or around a swimming pool.  Wherever you have a wind problem, this is the product you need.  It comes in 5' and 10' widths and can be ordered in any length you require.  The regular pricing on this is $6 a running foot for the 5' and $12 a foot for the 10'.  The clearance price will be $3 and $6 respectively.  Just call in your order for this product.  Call John at 866-603-8388.

Fish Hook Guards
Fishing hooks can be a real pain as they are always snagging something other than fish.  They snag your jacket, your fingers and maybe even your kids or grandkids.  The Fish Hook Guard is a hook and loop product that prevents the hook from snagging what it shouldn't.  Use them on your rod or in your tackle box to separate your lures.  As one customer stated, "Now when I reach into get a lure, I get one at a time, not a handful.  They're not all stuck together and I don't need to untangle all the hooks."  The regular price is a package of 3 for $3.99.  Special pricing is 5 packages for $10 a 50% savings.  These make a great gift idea for that fisherman in your life.  If you're a rally organizer these make great stuffers for your Welcome Packets.

Fish Phone Cords
These are handy little retractable phone cords that are great for your laptop connection to a phone modem or when you want to shorten phone cords up on the counter or desk.  Regularly $4.99 on clearance for $1.

30' Retractable Phone Cord.
This cord is great when you need to run a cord from one side of the room to the other so you can connect up to a phone line.  Great for connecting a fax machine when there is no phone line in the area.  Also great for the RVer who needs a phone connection.  The cord lies flat and rolls up with the push of a button.  Regularly priced at $19.99, on clearance for $7.50.

Stay Clean Funnels:
These funnels have a cap on each end so they don't become a dust magnet.  There are 5 different sizes available.   These are being discontinued so when they are gone, they are gone.  There is a limited supply.  They are on sale at 20% off.

Window Awning Lock:
The Window Awning Lock prevents your window awnings from spooling out when you are driving.  Regularly $12, clearance priced at $6.

Handle Helpers:
Handle HelpersThese attach by way of two self tapping screws to the door handle of a rig or a truck to make it easier to open.  Ladies love them.  Regularly priced at $7, on for $4.

30 Amp Female to 15 Amp Male Adapters:
30 Amp AdapterRegularly priced at $4, clearance at $2.

Awning Wands:
Our awning wand is 54" long, 8" longer than the standard wand.   It has a great handle on it, rather than that little ring as well as a proper hook on the end.  It can be used to pull cargo out of the cargo bay, move jack pads around or even as a poker for the fire.  It screws together in the middle or can be disassembled for easy storage.   Regularly $25 on for $12.50.

Flashlights with hook & loop:
Those of you who have attended our seminars will recall that we talk about hook & looping flashlights into all those dark places such as the closets, under the bed, under the sink, dark cupboards, storage compartments etc.  We now have some flashlights available that have the hook & loop already attached.  A package of 3 cost $6 but now is available for $3.  Batteries are not included.
